Q: ht reclaim free ssd disk space for larger bootcamp partition

I have a macbook air mid-2013 with mavericks and want to create a bootcamp partition. When I start the bootcamp install it shows that I can only have a 40gb partition even though I have 179 gb free. Is there anything I can do (apart from a complete reinstall of the mac osx side) that will allow a bigger partition? Thanks!
