Will DVD-R or DVD+R disks work on Blu-ray players?

Since 2003 I've been using iMovie 4 and latterly iMovie HD6 to edit home movies then burn them onto DVD-R and DVD+R media. My dilemma is that the father of my two granddaughters is going to get a blu-ray player and the videos I've done of them since they were babies are all on the DVD HD media, as the future videos will continue to be. I don't want to buy blu-ray media just for this reason (even if they are accepted to burn on my iMac DVD burner/player) also I've got a large stock of DVD + and - R blank media.

Would anyone please tell me if my home movies will play on their blu-ray player.

Thank you.

As standard Video-DVDs - most probably - by doing all small things that one can = reduces Errors = DVD plays on more players and as good as is possibly.

Brand of DVD - matters

Type of DVD - matters

Slow Burn Speed - matters

(clean DVD-burner - matters - I use a Cleaning DVD from time to time)

and

What's feed into iDVD .- matters

- Video-CODEC used

- Photo file format

- Audio file format

- Free Space on Start-Up (Boot) Hard Disk

AND

What Blu-Ray player is used - Some cheap Samsung BD-players can have problems especially if DVD is burned as a Blu-Ray disk in Toast (iDVD can not do that).

So You see why one can not give a strigth YES or NO
