MacMini Update - How do I know

I have a Mini I got from a friend after a long period of only owning Windows computers. I recently updated to Snow Leopard (10.6) and then to Lion (10.7). I was checking the requirements on Mountain Lion (10.8) and it says I can update to this OS if My Mini is "early 2009 or newer".

How do I know if I can update to Mountain Lion?

I've asked my friend but he's not sure when he purchased the Mini originally. Is there somewhere on my computer that I can find this information?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

What model Mini do you have?

How to identify Mac mini models

The early and lat 2006 can only go to Snow Leopard

The mid 2207 to Lion.

The later ones can go to Mavericks

2GB of memory
8GB of available space

more then 2 GB of memory is recomended

Look at the system requirements for the version of OS X you would like to update to and then compare those to the system specifications of your MM. If you are unclear on which MM you own, click the Apple symbol in the upper left corner of your display and then click About this Mac....
