Mac Pro 3.1 and nvidia GTX 780 (jetstream) - Will it work?!

Hello everyone,

My son has got a Mac Pro 3.1, and is wanting to do a graphics card upgrade.

He has the nvidia GTX 780 (Jetstream) (http://www.hardwareversand.de/nl/6144+MB/166003/Palit+GeForce+GTX+780+Jetstream+ 6GB+mit+GeForce+Experience.article) on his mind, due to the fact he will be using the Mac for video editing, rendering etc, and will also be using heavy graphic games on 'ultra' settings in Windows through Bootcamp.

Now our question is: Will this be possible on a Mac Pro 3.1 (Early 2008)? We have read through many forum's and can not get a clear answer from any.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

These cards should work if Mavericks is installed because it has the drivers. However, unless the ROM has been flashed for use on a Mac there will be no video until the computer has completed startup. That means you lose the ability to use OPTION booting or any other startup shortcuts unless you use VGA instead of Digital ports.
