Q: Once I have enabled my personal hotspot it only turns on when my iphone5 is plugged in to my laptop. If I unplug it it remains enabled but does not work (the blue bar at the top does not show)

I have an iphone5. Once I have enabled my personal hotspot it only turns on when my phone is plugged in to my laptop. If I unplug it, personal hotspot remains enabled but does not work (the blue bar at the top does not show). Any ideas on why this could be the case? Many thanks

    For Personal Hotspot to work using a WiFi connection, you must have BOTH WiFi and Bluetooth enabled, other wise Personal Hotspot will only work using a USB connection.

     

    Turn on both WiFi and Bluetooth, then enable Personal Hotspot before trying to connect using WiFi on your laptop.
