How do I remove search.frontier.com

So I just got my macbook air 6 days ago, and today I noticed something different. I was searching for a website, when I noticed at the top it was searched through the "search engine" search.frontier.com. I know this is some sort of hijacker kind of site that will reroute me to unsafe or misleading websites. I didn't give frontier to install this and I definitely didn't install this myself. I've been searching how to remove it, and nothing seems to be working. Also I'm using chrome if that helps. Any ideas? Thanks.

The same thing happened to me; albeit, we actually do have frontier internet service. I'm not sure how to remove the search.frontier from my computer. It only comes up randomly as I cannot find it in any extensions or even in manage search settings etc.

I attempted to search system files and hidden files on my mac and found a few that had the word frontier in it and deleted them but the search.frontier site comes up periodically for certain searches. Not sure why..any help would be greatly appreciated.

From Frontier.com comes this helpful link:

If you wish, you can opt out of this service at http://search.frontier.com/prefs.php.

Apparently, search.frontier.com will appear (even if you've deleted the Frontier search engine in Safari prefs) when you arrive a page that Safari can't find/open. Once I disabled this unasked-for service at the link, above, I haven't seen the frontier search page again.
