Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
What I would recommend in this situation would be trying to Force Quit the application. I know that you said the application opens as soon as the computer display comes on and you cannot access anything else. You can use the key command Command-Option-Escape to bring up the force quit menu and quit the game causing the issue. Please use the following article for more information.

Have a great day,

Thanks for the advice. I've tried your suggestion and it worked and even when I close the computer down and restart I no longer have the game app appearing. I now have to find out how to get rid of this app. Thanks again for your help

There is another great article that gives instructions for removing an application as well. If the application was not downloaded from the Mac App Store, it should be located in the Applications folder that you can find in Finder.

Aug 14, 2014 6:06 PM in response to joe_73by Shirpat,Hi joe,
Thanks for the new advice. I have tried to uninstall by dragging because the app is from the Games Centre but as soon as I try to drag the wretched thing opens and freezes the mac. I have dragged other apps before without a problem. This one seems determined to cause problems. Anyway thank you for helping.
