Download Stack disappeared from my Dock?

Hi,

Somehow I seem to have lost my download stack on my dock.

It used to stack up on top of each other when I downloaded something from the internet next to the trash icon.

My sister had got a load of dowloads all the same so I went to trash them and now the whole stack is missing?

When I download now it bounces off to the top and disappears somewhere not onto my dock like before.

Help Please anyone?

Kind Regards.

Open Finder, and right (or ctrl) click on the folder that says Downloads, click 'Add to Dock' - then, right click the downloads folder located in the dock and choose the following options: sort as 'Date Added,' Display as 'Stack,' and view content as 'Fan.'

The Dock doesn't literally have the folders, e.g., the Download folder. Instead it contains "aliases" (a.k.a, "pointers", or "shortcuts") to the real folders, which reside elsewhere on your computer.

In the case of the Downloads folder, this is located at the base level of your Home folder. Probably your Home folder can be found in the sidebar of a Finder window. You can also get there by pressing command-shift-h while you are in Finder.

Once you get to your Home folder, you should see the Downloads folder. Drag it to the right side of the Dock and drop it in there. This recreates the alias that was inadvertently destroyed. You will notice that the Downloads folder is still in your home folder.

If the Downloads folder looks like a folder instead of a stack, control click on it and select "Display as stack".
