Neoprene pillow stand for IPad 3, bad idea?

Many cases/covers/stands can make the iPad warmer than without one.
Is it hot to the touch? If not, you should be OK. The iPad is designed to first put up a warning message if it's running to hot and then will shut off if its temperature continues to increase.
Do you use the iPad for several hours at a time?

Hi Lyssa,
Yes, it is hot to the touch, not enough to burn but definitely hotter than the normal hot back of an Ipad3. And yes I do use for several hours at a time, watching movies or taking online courses, maybe 5-6 hours per day in a couple sittings.
So, I guess as long as I don't get the warning message I am ok then? I sure hope so as I really love that little pillow stand.
Thanks for your help!
I don't know if your stand is capable of doing this...but maybe find a way to put something between the back of your iPad and the pillow...For example I have about 3-4 empty CD cases between the base of my TV and the cable box it's standing on. Which gives an inch or so for air flow.
Obviously you don't need that much for an iPad, but maybe take a carboard box, cut a couple of strips maybe an inch wide and smaller than your iPad and slide them between your ipad and the pillow, to make a little void between the back of the iPad and the pillow. Give the heat a little air to dissipate into.
If it works, you could use double sided tape or a couple of simple stitches to attach the cardboard to your pillow. It'll be out of sight behind your iPad but might help with the heat.
You should be OK. The main problem I've seen crop up if an iPad stays too warm too long is battery issues - excessive heat and cold can cause damage to the battery, which in turn means it won't hold a charge as long or the iPad may shut down without warning.
I would give Skydiver119's suggestion a try - place something between the iPad and the sleeve that won't hold on to heat as well - and see if the iPad stays a little cooler.
Also, try using the iPad for that extended period of time with something else propping it up - maybe stack up some books on either side of the iPad and leave as much of the iPad's back uncovered as possible - and see if it feels just as warm. If so, the pillow isn't changing anything and you can carry on as usual.

Thank you both Skydiver and Lyssa! I have rolled up a post card and stuffed it down the middle of between the iPad back and pillow. It gives clear airspace almost all the way from side to side now, plus a 3/4" hollow in the center where the card is rolled up. I think it really makes a diff! Thank you both again, I am so glad this is working, great solution!
I'm glad it's working for you. Enjoy your iPad and your really cool stand 🙂
Excellent! Thanks for reporting back 🙂
