Q: music and photos transferred into itunes and iphoto from external hard drive on to my new hard drive installed in my 2007 macbook

Since you have a current Time Machine backup of your computer you should be able to use the Migration Assistant to recover your music and photos.

Alternatively, if your music was purchased from the iTunes Store, you can re-download available songs for free.

I completed the migration assistant steps, but now am not sure how to get the music and photos into my itunes and iphoto as they were before. Everything under the latest backup is listed as the same blue folder whether it's a band name or movie clip. Does it not transfer them as they were in my old libraries? Unfortunately my old HD crashed, so all I have is what I last backed up on my Verbatim external HD. I also do not see any photos listed and am really hoping they weren't lost?! Thank you for your help.
