ATV Keeps Dropping WiFi connection

Anyone else have this issue. I am watching my Netflix and all of a sudden my video freezes but the sound keeps playing for short while then nothing. I get message that Netflix in not available at this time, please try again later. I know this is not Netflix because when this happens all connections with the ATV is not working. No iTunes or Movies, anything...no access. I have waited 20 minutes trying to open Netflix again and again with no luck. The quickest way to fix this problem is to restart my ATV and all of a sudden I am connected again. There is no consistent cause that I can tell, it just happens. Sometimes I can watch several episodes and other times I have to restart 3-4 times during a show. I do not think that this is my router, due to I have my Printer and 2 iPad's and my Sony TV connect to it via WiFi. I do not have any issues with any of them...ever. Only with my ATV. I think there has been a cheap WiFi connect chip set put into a lot of ATV's that when it gets hot...it locks up. The only problem is I can restart and it works rite away, so I don't think that is it. It just glitches and refuses to reconnect itself. Warranty is over for mine to I can only hope that a Software may be the issue and it just needs it fixed. Or maybe Apple realizes the problem and issues a recall to fix the ship set. Anyway very frustrating. Just wondering if anyone else is having same problem. some similar but not quite the same as my issue. Would be interested in hearing other views on this or better yet maybe a solution.

This indicates a network issue, other devices working does not rule that out.

Make sure DNS is set to auto (setting - general - network)

Make sure router is up to date.

Try connecting via ethernet

Go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise

Thanks for your reply. As you suggested, I checked on the DNS and it was set on Auto already. I did check the router and it said no updates were available. As for the Ethernet, I can't run a wire to unit, I have a finished basement. And about the Instumbler software, I looked into it but that is beyond my computer knowledge and wouldn't know what to do with it once I got it. But my signal seams to be strong. I get a strong sig outside my house pretty much throughout my property of a little over 1/2 an acre and router is within 20 ft of the ATV.

If you have any other ideas or suggestions, I would definitely look into them. Thanks again.

The website walks through how to get report and read. All you need to look for is signal strength and noise, post the values for those if you wish..this will show the state of the network.
