Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The Apple TV itself does not have iTunes Match. iTunes Match is only for iOS devices iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad. If you want to see your iTunes Library's content on your Apple TV, you will need to enable Home Sharing as is outlined in the article below.
Setting up Home Sharing for Apple TV (2nd generation and 3rd generation)

iTunes Store: Subscribing to iTunes Match

Take care,
Alex H.

To enable iTunes Match on Apple TV, go to settings, general, itunes store and enable iTunes Match. Under heading Music, you will see icloud library which you click on to configure.
If you try signing out of iTunes Store then back in and go through the process of setting up again, you may find that this resolves your problem.

Just wanted to say thanks for your suggestion. Logging out of iTunes on the Apple TV and back in again, then reactivating iTunes Match did the job for me. Now all playlists that are on my iMac are now listed under the playlist section under Music on the ATV - no need to use home sharing or anything else!
Cheers dude!
