Q: Hi I'm Trevor, you may have seen this before! but can anyone tell me how I can download clips from my new Sony CX410 to FCE 4? If not, does anyone know which editing programme it is compatible with?

    Hello Trevor,

    Welcome to the Apple Communities.

Your Sony CX410 is an AVCHD camcorder.   If you shot your clips in HD mode and have FCE 4.0.1 you should be able to ingest (download) your clips by connecting your camcorder to your Mac, then open FCE, then do File > Log & Transfer and follow the prompts.   Note that before you try to capture from your camcorder, you must select an FCE Easy Setup that matches how you shot the video in your camcorder.   I recommend that you shoot 1920x1080i  (note the i, for interlaced, not p for progressive ... your camcorder can do both.  Assuming you are in North America it would be 1920x1080i60 ... in the UK and certain other countries 1920x1080i50.

(Note: this may or may not work with SD clips depending on which of the 3 recording modes you selected in your camcorder.)

Thanks Martin but I have tried all that....it worked perfectly with my TG3 but it just will not recognise the clips from CX410. Do you know whether I should upgrade to FCE 7 or above as I wouldn't like to spend a fortune on finding out it wont work on that either!!
