Can I select and resize an image from inside a table cell?

In Pages 5.2, I can't figure out how to select an image from inside a table cell so that I can resize it (using handles). I remember being able to do this in previous versions of Pages. I noticed that if you paste an image after double clicking on a cell, the image will behave like text inside the cell but you still cannot resize the image. Is this still possible?

Thanks

I am using Pages version 6.2. Since it updates more-or-less automatically I don't pay much attention.

I was able to insert the image into the document OUTSIDE of the table. I could then resize it.

I am NOT able to drag it into the table -- this attempt forces the table to move out of the way of the image!

But I was able to Cut ( or probably ) copy the resized image and then Paste it into a table cell!

And it really is in the cell, because I was able to copy the content of the cell (text plus image) into another cell of the same table. (I'm building a mail merge document for name badges.)

The previous posts all stated what version of Pages they are referring to.

Yours does not, but I assume it is a recent version of Pages 6 because the behaviour has changed.

Pages '09 still offers vastly more control over what you can do in your layout, not just because it is the glass full, but because of what is in the glass. An excellent polished wine, not a half serve of L.A. Cola.

The default, transparent table cells give the illusion that an image already in the document, can be dragged into a cell from outside of the table, and further resized, but you are working on a separate foreground image entity, and not an actual member of cell contents. As soon as you move the table, the image is not part of it. Tested in Pages v5.6.2 on El Capitan.

The drag/drop of an image from outside of Pages onto a table cell is automatically incorporated as an unselectable image fill.

The above makes no difference what combination of Object Placement, or Text Wrap settings are used in the Arrange tab.
