Apple TV 2nd and 3rd gen have no syncing capability. Can you provide more info on the issue?
hi, yes on the mac the airplay icon does not appear in the top right corner of the menu bar
That would be airplay mirroring.
What model is your Macbook Pro (go to About This Mac - more info, if unsure)? It would need to be from 2011 or later
You would also need to be running OSX 10.8 or later
Hi Vazandrew, yes i have only had the laptop three months , and it runs OSX 10.9.4. when the apple tv is on and the computer the icon does not appear in the menu bar,
Is airplay enabled on Apple TV and is it up to date? Is this a home, business or school network? Make sure it is set to a main network and not guest (if applicable). Try ethernet. Reboot all components.
hi, my iPhone 5 works with apple tv, incidentally my new laptop does not connect to my wireless printer in my home, so do you think there is a problem with the laptop?
That would indicate a connectivity issue with the laptop,are you able to use home sharing ?

Home sharing is a separate function, so it being on would have no bearing on airplay. I was asking if you're able to use home sharing (Computers icon on Apple TV) as that would help to see if it's a connectivity issue with the laptop.

Not sure of what? In your second response you said the issue was with airplay. You were also having issues connecting laptop to computer, which points to a laptop connectivity issue. I simply asked if home sharing was an issue as well, since that will confirm the laptop as the cause. Your response that home sharing is on doesn't really help since that doesn't itself have a bearing on airplay nor does it answer the question in regards to if home sharing is working on Apple TV
If you have a further question you will need to be specific.

i do have Sharing in system preferences .
Again, that doesn't doesn't tell me anything ! I asked if you are able to use home sharing and yet you keep posting that it's on. Not sure how you expect to receive help if you don't give proper information. Until you choose to respond accordingly I have nothing further to add.
Do you have Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available. This will give you the ikon in the menu bar whenever it's available.
System Preferences>Displays check the box.
