Apple TV 2nd and 3rd gen have no syncing capability. Can you provide more info on the issue?

That would be airplay mirroring.

What model is your Macbook Pro (go to About This Mac - more info, if unsure)? It would need to be from 2011 or later

You would also need to be running OSX 10.8 or later

Is airplay enabled on Apple TV and is it up to date? Is this a home, business or school network? Make sure it is set to a main network and not guest (if applicable). Try ethernet. Reboot all components.

That would indicate a connectivity issue with the laptop,are you able to use home sharing ?

Home sharing is a separate function, so it being on would have no bearing on airplay. I was asking if you're able to use home sharing (Computers icon on Apple TV) as that would help to see if it's a connectivity issue with the laptop.

Not sure of what? In your second response you said the issue was with airplay. You were also having issues connecting laptop to computer, which points to a laptop connectivity issue. I simply asked if home sharing was an issue as well, since that will confirm the laptop as the cause. Your response that home sharing is on doesn't really help since that doesn't itself have a bearing on airplay nor does it answer the question in regards to if home sharing is working on Apple TV

Again, that doesn't doesn't tell me anything ! I asked if you are able to use home sharing and yet you keep posting that it's on. Not sure how you expect to receive help if you don't give proper information. Until you choose to respond accordingly I have nothing further to add.
