heat problems with my 2014 Macbook pro 15'in

it's 2.8ghz Quad core i7 ,Ram 16GB, cache 6MB , with Nvidia graphics card

This is my very first mac device , i just bought it yesterday and I'm noticing that the keyboard will get warm a little bet once i open any application like the notes, calendar,.. etc, I don't know if that's normal or not ?

I took it to apple store the same day i got it which is yesterday, they plugged in a usb cable to run some test for the componenets, and it passed it. everything looks normal according to that test. but i'm still kinda worried, i don't know if it's normal because also the weather here is hot and humid or there is something wrong with the fans or the processor.

I understand that it will heat up when i watch 1080P videos because of the Nvidia card running, but the keyboard doesn't feel cold when you open up any application, you still feel that little warmness. just in the processor area which's the upper part of the keyboard where the numbers and the F buttons are located, and of course the bottom side of it.

as i mentioned , I'm new into the mac industry ,i need help on that please

It probably is normal. Understand that the aluminum case is part of the heat dissipation system in a MBP and they will get warm and even hot when using resource intensive applications.

If you like, install iStat menus:

http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/

Open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and set CPU to display values from high to low. When the MBP gets hot, post images of both for inspection.

Ciao.

I really don't think the heat you're experiencing is any cause for alarm. As OGELTHORPE mentioned, the case is part of the heat dissipation process. If the Apple Store ran tests on your MBP and passed it, you really have no cause for alarm.

On the MacBook (I have a late 2011 13"), I always try to keep it on a flat, hard surface to allow proper air circulation. I've noticed that within minutes of setting it on, say a soft surface like a bed that has a blanket or such on it, it will definitely run warmer. Air intake and exhaust are in the hinge area. For this reason, its wise to at least place it on something flat and hard, like a book. I personally use a thin (~ 3mm - 6mm) piece of Baltic Birch plywood as a backing board (cut to the approx. dimensions of the MBP) while using my MBP. Yes, you can buy a cooling pad as well but a thin, hard book or something similar will work fine as well.

I am not certain that a YouTube video is the best test. A DVD video may be better.

But regardless, in order to gain any insight, the temperature output as well as the Activity Monitor must be made at the same time. That way one can identify what the culprit is. Merely posting the Activity Monitor display by itself does not tell us anything of value.

I did watched netflix for like an hour and a half, i got the MBP as hot as i could , and it really gets hot really fast like within the first minute

here is screenshot of the Activity monitor and Istat menus at the notification bar, (i'm not sure if that's what you want for the output temperature )

i was running netflix and another video , and i also heard the fans working for a little bet

That is what I was looking for. Based on the information that you have provided, all is normal. 72°c is well within safe operating tolerances. Skype or games can drive the temperature to much higher (to the 90°c +) levels.

There are thermal shut down provisions that will protect the MBP from committing suicide due to heat.

Should you still be concerned, employ the use of a cooling pad or the like to mitigate the temperature to a degree.

that's it, I'm not conceded at all now, i was just worried since it's my first time using Mac and i paid a lot of money for it, plus it's the new processor the 2.8GHz that they just added couple of weeks ago. i thought maybe there a problem with it since it hasn't been out for a long time.

thank you tho, you have been very helpful.
