Got it. To replace the contacts in iCloud with the ones on your phone do the following:
Thanks Randers4. I've got Contacts turned off in Settings>iCloud on my iPhone because I don't want to sync with iCloud until I'm sure how syncing works. I've just got a new iPhone and have imported a new set of contacts onto it which I now want to backup on iCloud and replace the old set of contacts on iCloud from my previous phone which I don't want to keep. Does that make sense? If I turn on Settings>iCloud on my iPhone and sync with iCloud will my new contacts just merge with the old ones on iCloud, or is there some way I can delete my old contacts from iCloud and then backup my new contacts afresh?
Is your phone syncing contacts with iCloud right now? (In other words, do you have contacts turned on in Settings>iCloud on your phone?)
Many thanks Randers4 - all sorted now ...
Gavin
