My iPhone 4s screen is cracked and can't slide to unlock it. Several of the icons are not working as well. Is there a way to recover my photos if the phone has never had a back up or synced with another device?

No in order to backup to iTunes, you would need to unlock your phone.

In order to import pics to your computer you would need to unlock your phone.

If you have not backed up the device or synced it, you cannot do that without unlocking it. Since you cannot unlock it, it is going to be difficult. How long have you had this device? You have never imported photos from the device? Without unlocking the screen, you cannot select to trust the computer and device so you could not import the photos. You also cannot go into the device via Explorer in Windows since you have never trusted it. You can try connecting the device to the computer and iTunes and try to back it up, but I'm afraid you will need to unlock the passcode.

Apple does not do screen replacements on the iPhone 4. You'd have to take your chances with a 3rd party. Doing so means you forfeit your right to an out of warranty replacement from Apple They won't touch it at all if a 3rd party opens it up.

As for software that would help. No. There is none.

I'm not sure if you ever found a solution, but I was able to access them from iPhoto.. I downloaded iPhoto, plugged my phone into the computer, it worked..

FYI- I have uploaded pics into the same computer, just never to iPhoto.. When i tried the classic way(plugging in phone, look for folders), it said "can't access phone as it's locked" but via iPhoto, it worked! 🙂
