Deleting unflagged, unread mail

Can I delete all unread and unflagged mail in Apple Mail in Mavericks? I want to keep only flagged mail.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

Yes, using Smart folders.

Under Mailbox in the Menu bar select New Smart mailbox

Select Message is unread.

Give the smart mailbox time to scan your email.

Select the smart mailbox in the folder list. This will show all unread messages.

Select all and delete.

There is no option to show not flagged in a smart folder. Let's try this...

Create a smart folder Date received is after the date (enter tomorrows date)

This will show all messages remaining in Mail.

Using 3 pane view (uncheck classic view in Mail > Preferences > Viewing, you can sort by flags in the middle column. This should sort all your flagged messages at the top. Scroll down to where flags stop. Select all the unfledged messages and delete.

Hope this helps!
