Q: AirPort Extreme slow after plugging in 3 TB hard drive
I have a new AirPort Extreme and everything seems to be working well until I plug in my Wester Digital 3 TB USB hard drive. The router then becomes unresponsive and I can no longer access it through the AirPort Utility. Once I unplug the USB hard drive it becomes responsive again.
The hard drive is formatted ExFat so it can be read by both Apple and Windows devices. When I plug the hard drive into my Mac, everything on the hard drive seems just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong here?

The hard drive is formatted ExFat so it can be read by both Apple and Windows devices.
The USB port on the AirPort Extreme will only support the following formats:
FAT16/32 or Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
NTSF or exFAT are not supported.
