Hi,
Apple Hardware Test for an iMac (27-inch, Late 2012) provided the following error :
4MEM/9/40000000:0x80bcf190
Anyone know which hardware component the error is referencing and any solutions?

it might also be the case if you have installed RAM on your own, also if you have overpassed the limited amount of Ram supported by your Mac.
Try to roll back to the maximum official allowed memory and/or the original RAM on your mac, the perform the test again.

It is a memory error
It appears it it time to check the RAM in your iMac

First Googled the error reference and nothing relevant found.
Googled Apple Hardware Test memory error and found this interesting thread:

The hardware test is showing a 'mem' failure code, or a memory failure. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have a bad memory chip. Try removing and firmly reseating both of your memory sticks (swap the memory chips between the slots as another good step), then run the hardware test again.
If you get a failure code again, try removing just one chip at a time, and run the test again. You should be able to find just one chip to blame.
It's also likely that reseating both chips the first time may clear that test code completely.
Do you really think anyone care three years after the fact?😉
