Q: Mac Mini 1.1 with 10.8 Server won't restart

I had a power outage on my mac mini 1.1 running 10.6.8 Server.  Since the outage, the machine requires a hard reset (holding the power button for 10 seconds producing an extended beep) to restart.  Otherwise it starts to reboot, the Apple logo appears, but I either get a panic message or a frozen cursor.  Everything is fine after rest, except the system will not restart after the next shutdown.

I thought I had a hardest error and changed the start up disk, but the result is the same.  I now have two different disks I can use to start up, and each runs fine until the next shut down.  Something in the reset seems to make whatever the problem is go away.

Any ideas?  I am clueless at this point.  I am posting this message for both Mac Mini and 10.6.8 users.
