How can I connect to network printer, canon iR2525 - not working with OS 10.9?

I have a macbook air 2013, running 10.9.4.

My office has a server and several network printers. I can connect to the server and an HP colour laser jet printer with no problems. The Canon iR 2525 printer/copier is giving me and the IT department issues. We have tried several solutions, but nothing happening. I have looked at several of the discussions and cannot pinpoint what the issue is. I'm hoping someone may be able to help.

After setting up the printer (using the LPD protocol), and printing - the printer reports that there is not paper in the tray. However there is paper in the tray, that is just the error that occurs.

If you can help me (and our IT department), please do.

Thanks,

Mac OS X (10.4.11)

On the printers LCD, does it show what tray it is expecting it to have paper in? And what size of paper?

One thing I am aware of with this model is that it has no ability to override the paper size. With the bigger iR copiers, if you send a Letter size document to the copier then it will automatically convert this to A4. This is not available for this model so ensure via the Page Setup of the application being used or via the Paper Handling menu in the UFR2 driver that A4 is set as the paper size.

If the original is correctly set to A4 then another action you can try is to open Printers & Scanners, select the iR2525 and press Options & Supplies. Then select the Utility tab then click on Open Printer Utility. This will open the Canon Office Printer Utility and in this window you will see a Printer Information button. Press this and a new window should appear showing the setup of the copier. Confirm that the correct number of trays is shown and press OK to close the Printer Information window. Now you can quit the utility. Now see if this helps with stopping the error.
