Q: facebook app frozen 'waiting' on iphone

1. My Facebook app (downloaded sometime ago and previously functioning) has 'frozen' in 'waiting' mode?

2. Could possibly be connected to possible Phishing e-mail received yesterday from someone using old contacts old 'me' address?

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.2

I should add that I've tried logging out of iTunes and Apps... Re-booting... Holding both buttons until the logo appears... and resetting... It's really kinda weird because it just happened for no apparent reason??? Aside from the dodgy e-mail I received yesterday that somebody used by what seems like hacking a contacts old 'me' identity...

If you are still having this problem, try force-closing the app by double-tapping the home button, locating FaceBook, swiping up on the preview image above the app icon to close it, then tapping the home button again.  Then test the app.  If it continues to malfunction, delete it by tapping and holding the app until it wiggles, then tapping the "x" to delete it.  Then download it again from the App store.

@randers4 Thanks for your help. I've tried what you suggest and having resigned myself to having to delete the app not long after it happened, have tried to do that, sadly the doesn't appear - so I can't delete it. Thanks for your help anyway. Appreciated.

See if you can sync it off your phone (by connecting it to your computer, opening iTunes, clicking on the name of your phone in iTunes, going to the Apps tab of your iTunes sync settings, locating FB in the list and clicking Remove, then clicking Apply at the bottom to sync).  If successful, you can then click Install by the app, then click Apply again to sync it back on your phone again.

As explained by Randers4 - the best way to alleviate this problem is to plug your phone into your computer or a computer that has iTunes and open the device in the application, go to the app section and delete it and then re-install the app later if need be.

I had hesitated doing this but iTunes allows for a device not linked to the default iPhones account that exists on a specific computer once every few months or so.

    Thanks All!
