OS X won't reinstall

HI friends,

AS I was searching for help, I found out how to erase the hard drive, which I did.

now when I start up and try to reinstall Lion, it gets stuck or freezes right away on the screen that says "checking all discs"

I Took the drastic measure of wiping the hard drive because it was constantly stalling, so I figured this was bring it back to the factory state...

any help of suggestions are appreciated! I'm freaking out!
