Migration assistant from PC - users not seen during setup?

I've managed to establish a connection from Macbook to PC using migration assistant but the users do not show up, hence the transfer folders etc will not present themselves for selection. Data transfer amount shows as zero. I've tried to make the PC user accounts as 'shared' but still no joy - any clues please? Thanks
