Is there a list of Instruments somewhere that I should see for 10.0.2?

I bought the 10GB add on for Garageband that adds 150 sounds and 1,500 loops and 17 Drummers, etc but my list of available instruments still seems quite small compared to how I remember it in older versions. Does 150 sounds equate to 150 new instruments?

Is there a list out there that I can use to compare to what I SHOULD be seeing with the Base install as well as the purchased additional content?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I have not seen any inventory of the full set of sounds published by Apple. But you should be seeing 150 different patches in your library, depending on the kind of track you have currently selected. Did you reboot the mac, after installing the instruments?

For example, when I am selecting a software instrument track, I am seeing this in the library inspector:

Check out the "Legacy" section at the bottom of the library. If you still have GarageBand '11 installed or Logic, you should be finding all of your previous GarageBand '11 and Logic instruments, and any JamPacks you had installed.

Count the items, that are easy to count:

With a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 (USD), you can expand this content to 200 sounds, 2,000 loops, 15 drummers, and 40 basic lessons for guitar and piano. You also gain the ability to purchase additional Artist Lessons.

Check the number of Drummers, and see, how many loops are shown in your Lopp Browser, when you set it to "Loops" and disable the Preference "Keyword browsing" in the GarageBand Preferences "Loops".

Okay I see the 2000 loops when I disable the the keyword browsing, and I manage to locate 18 drummers? I got a macbook air from an old iMac desktop. used the GB 6 and will need to learn a lot of stuff.

Noticed that I can't get into the actual xls files. Is there a way to add instruments (I have Finale and aria Player on old iMac). Also, when beginning new project, the multi track recording doesn't appear in file, and the only buttons I get for each track are mute and headphone icons.

I ordered the GB book, it's in the mail, but I thought it would be easier to get started since I was pretty good at GB 6.

Thanks for the help.

Then your download is probably complete. The latest update added another drummer, so 18 drummers are o.k.

You can add audio unit instruments. To add your Aria player:

  • Enable the Audio Units in the GarageBand Preferences > Audio:User uploaded file
  • Select a software instrument track.
  • Open the Smart controls for the track.
  • Open the Info panel ℹ in the Smart Controls.
  • Click the "instruments" in the Audio Units brick in the Info panel.
  • Select the Aria player. You will be prompted to allow to lower the security setting.

I have never used the Aria Player from GarageBand, so you have to figure out, how to select the banks.

I have Garageband on both my laptop and my desktop. On my laptop I have all the instruments after purchasing the additional sounds, but on my desktop, no matter how many times I click on "Restore Purchase" I don't get the new instruments. I have even tried copying the Instruments from my laptop to the desktop and clicking on "Restore Purchase" to no avail.

Any ideas?
