On my iPhone pressing Enter in an SMS Message inserts a line break; in Messages it sends the message. How can I insert the line break without sending the message when working on OS X Mavericks?

Thanks Barney, Ctrl+Enter worked great. I also tried Alt+Enter which worked in exactly the same way, but Cmd+Enter did nothing.
Brilliant! I'll try this in Skype too as that's another place i have this same problem; there really should be a system setting for this that can be changed depending on user choice.
Try Ctrl-enter or cmd-enter. I seem to remember something like that working, but I don't have my Mac with me to check.
