iCloud requiements are v10.7.5 or later. So you would have to upgrade to v10.7.5 at the minimum to sync your mail using iCloud.

See if your Mac can run v10.7 Lion > OS X Lion - Technical Specifications
If so, v10.7 Lion is available from the Apple online store > OS X Lion (10.7) - Apple Store (U.S.)
Read prior to upgrading from Snow Leopard > Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta! | Apple Support Communities
You can share Mail, Calendars, and Contacts running Snow Leopard. Based on my experience, I don't recommend syncing Contacts - created a lot of problems with duplicates.
