I can watch a video on my iPad, but when I use AirPlay to send it to my Apple TV and then to my TV, I just get the rotating circle on the TV screen.I should say that this does not happen with all videos, just a small number. Also, my AppleTV is hard wired to my home network.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion. I asked the app maker that I use to select the videos my question, and he answered that "That program might not have been released to AppleTV". Maybe he means the copy protection has not been removed. But what would explain the video plays on the iPad?

Basically, the difference would how AirPlay (and how your TV) handles copy protected material.
