Calendar stopped sending email alerts in Mavericks

All of a sudden I am not getting any Calendar e-mail notifications as e-mails, instead get them as alerts and they show up in Sent Mail but not in the Inbox, nor in Junk. I used the "Make This My Card" option in Contacts for my iCloud account.

Tried using iCould and Local Calendars, a different iCould account, a Gmail account and used the "Make This My Card" option , in Safe Mode, a different iCloud account as a test user in Safe Mode and on a different machine with OS X10.9.3 instead of OSX 10.9.4.

Also tried in my summer residence. Same problem with all of them.

Additionally I tried all the fixes in Discussions to no avail.

Any suggestions?
