You will still have to slide to unlock even without a screen-lock passcode
If you are OK with not having a passcode on the device, you can open Settings > Passcode > enter the passcode and then select Turn off Passcode.
Hey Sethm1, You could deactivate passcode as Foxfifth stated and set Auto-Lock to Never, Settings>General>Auto-Lock to Never. But your battery will drain very quickly, because the screen will remain on all the time. Cheers.
Yes lllaass is correct - hence my post. SO then I am indeed stuck?
If you consistently will be using only one application for an extended period of time, such as a remote application, you can use an iOS feature called Guided Access. Navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access and turn it on. This is essentially a single-app mode feature, but it has other benefits. Now, go to the app that you will exclusively be using for a while and triple-click the home button. Choose the Guided Access option if prompted. Now, your screen will be surrounded by a series of controls. Tap 'Options' on the bottom-left, and make sure that 'Sleep/Wake Button' is on. Now, tap 'Start' in the upper-right corner.
Now, when you put your iPod to sleep, it will go to sleep as expected, but when you press it again, it will spring right back to where it was with no lock screen.
You could use this feature when using your remote, for example. You can navigate to your remote app, triple-click the home button, maybe flip some switches, and hit start. Flipping the 'Sleep/Wake Button' switch once and hitting start will retain your settings in iOS so that the next time you triple-click the home button for Guided Access, no configuration will be needed and will will start immediately after triple-clicking. Your simplified workflow will then be to open the remote app and triple-click home. That's it. To exit Guided Access, triple-click the home button again.
Matt. Thanks. Is a step in the direction I want, but then the screen is locked. Still no way to turn off the screen when I want.
