Q: Software update and restoring problems ipad

I recently completed a software update on my ipad1. After completing the update the ipad asked me to connect to itunes. I did this and selected to restore the ipad using the backup from itunes. It has completed the restore it says on the computer however the ipad still keeps showing the screen which says hello, asks me to select a language and to restore using the itunes back up. I'm stuck in a loop! Help!
