MacBook Pro "not connected to internet"

Running 10.7 on MacBook Pro and repeatedly get the message "Not connected to internet" when I try to connect to wifi. However, when I select "cancel" wifi works perfectly. The problem is that it does not remember wifi passwords, even though I've selected "remember password for this network" So I have to repeatedly enter the same password each time I login. Any solutions?
