cannot transfer files using bluetooth between an android phone and a macbook

My wife has an android mobile phone and has taken pictures of our grandchildren. I am trying to transfer the files to my macbook using bluetooth but I haven't been successful. Although the mobile indicates it is connected to my macbook when I click a photo it does not transfer. No information comes up on my screen to indicate that the file is attempting to transfer. I have transferred files successfully in the past but not now. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Carolyn.

Thanks for trying to help with my problem but none of the suggestions in the article have worked. My wife's phone and my Macbook are indicating that they are paired but cannot transfer the files. Image Capture does not recognise the phone and neither does the android software. My wife's phone is a Samsung. I have a Samsung too and in the past have successfully transferred photos using bluetooth but I am unable to transfer photos from my phone too now.!!
