I want to upgrade to maverick so I can run programs again but I am unable to because it says that I do not have enough memory. We have backed up our system 2 times and it still will not let us upgrade. So I have to buy something ?
it says I must have 2gb of memory and I only have 1. I think I will have to buy memory. My Mac is from 2007.
check OWC or crucial site to see if this is possible for your Mac

You haven't told us anything about the type of Mac you have.
if it's a MacBook Air, it cannot have its memory upgraded. If the Mac is old, it may be too old to run Mavericks.

You said it was from 2007. It would have to be an iMac or MacBook Pro to be able to run Mavericks. And it would have to be from mid-2007 or later.
And, if it's a MacBook Pro, it would have to be 15" or 17".
It is from 2007 and it is a iMac,1. So do I have to buy more memory to get Mavericks to work?
I looked and it looks like I can buy more memory from either site. Is it hard install ?

Are you sure you want to pour money into a seven year old computer instead of replacing it?
Not sure of buying a new one only problem with this one is the lack of memory. By the looks of things it would be an inexpensive upgrade. So far we have only bought mountian lion for this computer. New would be nice but not really necessary right now.
