Unable to send email via Charter Communications

My primary email account is through Charter Communications and I am unable to send outgoing emails with my iPad. I receive a message"Can not send email. User Name or Password for "my email address" @smtp.charter.net is incorrect" . I have performed the following steps that have not resolved my issue

1. I have reset my iPad three times.

2. I have deleted the email account three times

3. I have recreated the email.account three times

4. I have changed the Account name from Darrell Coe to the email.address (recommended by Charter Support)

5. Changed Password once and re-entered password in iPad settings several times

5a. I can send email fromCharter's mail website which uses the same password as entered in the iPad Settings

6. I have three other email accounts on my iPad and I have had no difficulties sending outgoing emails.

7. the Charter email account works with the computer but does not send email on the iPad.

*** Charter says it is not their problem. Their network is operational.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I have missed anything, I would like to know and if anyone has a suggestion for me to try, I am willing to do it.

Darrell

Looks like you simply didn't finish the setup by creating the proper outgoing SMTP server for the account. Try this:

  1. Gather the Charter Communications setup info (I found this, but may not be what you were told to use).
  2. Find and tap your account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. On the following page, tap the Account again.
  4. Tap SMTP.
  5. Verify you have selected the proper server for Charter. If not select it from the list.
  6. Once you have the proper SMTP server selected, tap it in the Primary Server section to enter it's setup screen.
  7. Verify and enter the proper information if it is not correct.
  8. Tap Done and try to send emails again.

Alfred,

This is informational purposes only, just in case another User encounters a similar problem as I did wither email Account.

Thank you for responding to my matter. When setting up my Charter account, all server info was provided. All I had to do was populate the Name, email Address and Password fields, I did not even mess with the SMTP Server information. But I did as you recommended and clicked done and again attempted to resend a message to myself at one of the other email I have on my iPad and again I received the Sent Fail message. I went back to Settings, deleted my account and setup another Charter account. I used all the same information but this time after hitting DONEI RECEIVED a "Password fail message". I changed the password again and I used the original password (before I changed it (due to recent Russian Identity Scare) and did not receive the "Password fail message" and sent another message to myself only to see the Sent fail message again. I went back to Settings and changed the Password back to the new password (double checking each character I inputted were all correct) and hit DONE. I did not receive a Password fail message as before. I sent another email to my self and this time it was sent SUCCESSFULLY!.

I can not tell you who is at fault. Periodically, I would receive the Sent Mail Failed Message and I would attribute it to be a Server problem because it had been working before and then all of a sudden it would stop.
