turn off internal display - external projector only

Hi all,

This question seems to have been asked a lot but there is very little in the way of recent info - most posts are from about 2008-12. I'm running a Macbook air (OSX 10.9.2) and a projector via Minidisplay port to HDMI. All works great but i would like to turn off the internal display and just have the projector output on display. I'm not interested in typing in scripts and rebooting with some other device plugged in or waving a fridge magnet across the edges of my laptop (as I'm sure most people aren't). Does anyone know of any new way of achieving this simple request? The best i've come up with is turning the display brightness down to zero which will have to do if there are no other options.

Thanks!!!
