Airplay Mirroring Not Working on my MacBook but working on my Iphone

I recently bought a third generation Apple TV.

I currently have an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.1.2 and a MacBook Pro (from later than 2011) running 10.9.4.

After setting everything up, I successfully was able to mirror by MacBook Pro desktop onto my TV screen via the Apple TV. I was able to also mirror the screen of my iPhone onto the TV as well.

However, the past few times I have been using it, I cannot seem to connect my MacBook to the Apple TV anymore. The icon in the top right hand side of my Macbook Pro desktop doesn't show up anymore, yet I know there is nothing wrong with my network or internet as other Apple device such as my iPhone still can connect to the Apple TV and mirror the desktop - just not my MacBook Pro. After a bit, the icon comes up, but I cannot connect as it says "Connecting to Apple TV timed out."

I have to restart everything to get it working again which is extremely frustrating.

I am not sure why the iPhone is connecting seamlessly and doesn't drop or have to restart yet my MacBook keeps dropping the icon...

Can someone please help

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
