import from photoshop on pc

I bought a MacAir 13" in large part to make life easier; I already have iphone and ipad and love the ecosystem so far. But transition to pictures looks like it will be a lot harder. I have thousands of pictures on my PC that are tagged and rated in photoshop -- all my kids pictures, for example.

Is it possible to import those pictures into iPhoto with the star rating and faces still intact? I've looked all over the internet. Most searches seem to go the otherway, which leaves me anxious.

If you can't move from adobe to iPhoto, what is the next best option? Longterm, I'd like an extremely simple way for pictures to be shared within the family from iphone, etc. And I'm not excited to pay adobe $10/month forever just to keep this on old pictures (I don't see anything on adobe's website but a subscription service which is not what I had on PC).

Finally, either way, I'd welcome tips on the simplest way to get the photo and video library associated with the new computer from the external harddrive where it currently resides. I don't want to put files on computer harddrive, but access them from a network attached drive.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

No, but you can get close to it. The problem is that there is no convention for sharing Ratings and Faces between apps. But there are ways of sharing keywords and the simple way is to create keywords

1star, 2star, 3star etc

And assign them to the relevant pictures. Export them while writing the keywords to the exported files. Then copy them to the Mac.

Import them to iPhoto. Then a quick Smart Album will find them so:

File -> New Smart Album

Keyword is 1star

finds all the 1star images. Then select all and assign them an iPhoto rating.

A similar system can be used to identify the faces too.
