Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues mounting SD cards with your MacBook Pro. To start, let’s try a few basic troubleshooting steps: Resetting the SMC and PRAM/NVRAM:

Next, you can refer to this resource for helpful information including what SD card formats work with the SD card slot, and how to properly insert media into the slot:

Aug 24, 2014 7:57 AM in response to matt00by cdan85,Hi Matt00,
I have the same problem (Macbook Pro, Maverick 10.9.4) and I tried your suggestions (together with trying different SD cards).
However it did not work.
I also have to say that the SD slot was actually working for me in the past, but unfortunately I don't know which particular update caused the trouble (if it is an update problem, clearly) as I had not used the SD for a while...Thanks,
C.

Jan 31, 2015 4:15 AM in response to matt00by liam587,Hi,
I have the same issue with my new macbook pro (2014)
The sd card struggles to mount.
I have reformatted the sd card, reset the SMC and installed the latest OS updates.
Is this a hardware or software issue? (NB. it worked fine on my mid 2010 macbook pro!!!)
Please advise.
Thanks.

Jul 18, 2015 10:16 AM in response to FlowBeatzby LCarbone23,Try two things: a) inserting the disk quickly and b) not inserting it all the way. The combination of these worked for me.
