what should i do to prevent my new macbook air from overheating?
i have a problem that is my macbook air gets overheated suddenly plz suggest me a solution...

Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
About the fans in a Mac:
How do you know it is overheating? What are the temperatures that are being produced? What applications are you running?
Instal iStat menus:
http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/
Open Activity Monitor and set it to ALL PROCESSES and set CPU to display values from high to low.
When the MBA gets 'hot', post images of both for inspection.

No data will be erased or affected with a SMC reset.

as in should i reset smc or download the istat menus?
You can do both. There is no inherent conflict to do that.
