Why will my iPad Mini reboot on it's own? I'm concerned about connecting it to my laptop and trying to perform any type of cleaning process for fear my laptop might become infected with a virus the iPad might have. Help!!

Currently there's no known virus affecting iPad as long as you don't Jailbreak your iPad.
(A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset
