My zagg bluetooth keyboard wont stay connected with my iPad Air

I have gone through multiple zagg keyboards thinking that the issue with the connectivity was the Zagg, but I am beginning to think it is the iPad. It is fully updated with the iOS 7.1.2, and I have tried all sorts of tricks to get it to reconnect as per suggestions from other forums. This i getting ridiculous, I am doing a hard reboot on my iPad 4-8 times a day because that seem to be the only way to restore the connection. What should I do??

i have as well a logitech smart keyboard for ipad air2 , i have same problem as yours.

by testing the same keyboard with my ipone 6 and my ipad 3 , there were not any issues.

i have noticed something, when i restart my ipad and pair my ipad air 2 again , there is no issues until i use Airdrop thing.

thats mean that the airdrop uses the bluetooth and mess with it.

I have an iPad Air and am on my 4th Zagg keyboard in one year. First two were issues with the hinges. The last couple have been about this Bluetooth problem. I don't understand why the problem continues. The first keyboards, with bad hinges, seemed to keep the Bluetooth connection going all the time. I never had to reconnect. Now, it seems I have gotten use to going to the "Settings" app and turning Bluetooth off and then on again to re-pair.

I too have heard that it's the iPad, not the Zagg. But frankly, I think that's horse manure. There have been more than a couple of OS updates on the iPad since this problem started. I have a friend who dumped his Zagg and bought a "Clamshell." He doesn't have any problems what-so-ever. But, his keyboard in not back-lit.

The conclusion I've come to is that Zagg makes a pretty good keyboard. They just need to get to the bottom of this connectivity issue and not just "Blame" Apple. Something isn't right. Zagg's customer service is 2nd to none. They have been "No questions asked," when I want a replacement. They have spent four times as much money as they have made on this keyboard, just replacing them all the time. So, it seems inconsistent that they wouldn't get more serious about this problem.

Maybe I am wrong. But, I think it's a problem with the Zagg keyboard. But, until I find a better one or there is a fix for this, I will just expect to re-start Bluetooth services a couple time a day.

I purchased a "Clamshell" for my iPad air as the Zagg offering didn't seem as well built for the Air as the iPad 4. The "Clamshell" worked great for a few months, but then started having intermittent connection issues. I submitted a support request with the company and eventually sent it in for service. They sent a brand new one out, free of charge. Two weeks ago, the new case is now behaving the same way. When typing on the Bluetooth keyboard, eventually the connection is lost, or something similar, as the letters stop showing up on the screen.

So issues with both Zagg and ClamCase products, or an issue with the iPad Air itself? Regardless, it is rather frustrating having to reboot the iPad or repair the keyboard.

I am having this issue. the zagg cover with an ipad air (1st gen). below is my email to zagg about the issue:

The keyboard connects via bluetooth and was working for several months just fine, however I have recently started using bluetooth speakers with the ipad. When I use the speakers they also connect fine, and the keyboard stays connected at first. They at some point after (1) disconnecting (turning off) the speaker and (2) putting the ipad in idle (i.e., not using the keyboard) the keyboard stops working. The keyboard still shows as connected, but doesn't function. In this state the ipad soft keyboard doesn't appear on the screen (because it thinks it has a keyboard connected) but the keys do nothing. The light on the caps key flashes when I hit keys I think. The only way I've found that will enable me to reconnect is to "forget" the keyboard, re-start the ipad (power down and back up) then re-pair the keyboard. Simpy forgetting and re-pairing does not work, I have to have the reboot step. This is obviously pretty annoying.

Battery is fully charged. I have tried with some bluetooth headphones as well and the same thing happens. It doesn't happen consistently after first use of the speaker - sometimes I'll get several times of turning speaker on and off before it happens, sometimes it happens first time after i turn off the speaker. It always happens though.

before the Zagg I had a logitech keyboard. The Zagg is vastly superior as a keyboard, but the logitech did not have this same issue, making me think it's zagg (or zag vs ios). zagg service is great, but the new keyboard they replaced it with has the same problem. because it worked for a while just fine and only started playing up when I was using bluetooth audio I assume that is factoring in.
