hi i have an ipod 4 i dont know what ios version it it, i dont know anything, it says connect to itunes on my ipod and i have the latest version of itunes btw and when i connect to itunes it says that my ipod is locked and i have to unlock it. i have tried recovery mode but my power button doesnt work, i have tried rec boot and when i use it, i press enter revcovery mode and it opens a command promt, i dont know anything else please help me asap. i am on win 8 btw.

Can you try to do the same thing without having the usb cord attached to the computer?

but my power button doent work. it doesnt work at all, when i had my ipods screen replaced they said that the power button wouldnt work anymore.
Oh, I get it now.
If the device turn on then there would be a way to use other buttons on the screen to replace the defective manual one but you need to have it unlocked first.
my ipod is turned on but the power button wont work, the home and sound buttons work, and idk when the last time i full charged my ipod 4
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane
Click on this link:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
