Outlook 2010 is a Windows program, do you really use Outlook 2010 or some other version?
Oops! That was a typo. I meant 2011. Thanks a lot Csound1, any suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue?
Who is your email provider?
Windows Live Hotmail. Its a live.com mail
What settings are you using for access to your account, and how are you setting up, as a POP or IMAP account?
You'll get better help for 2 Microsoft products on a Microsoft forum.
They appear to be correct
SMTP TLS required? Yes
So put those settings into Mac Mail and we'll see if it works there.
Thank you so much for your time and help Csound1 I really appreciate it.
Mac mail works perfectly fine so I don't want to screw it up by altering anything there.
However, I've checked to make sure I didn't miss anything on Outlook, but it still won't send messages. I don't know if I need to fill the "Unqualified domain" field?
Leave it blank.
If this account works fine in Mac Mail then Outlook is your problem. I'll suggest asking on the MS forums again, both the mail system and the client are Microsoft products. Apple products appear to work OK.
I appreciate it buddy, you're too kind. I'll take it up with MS. Cheers! 😎
You're welcome.
One more thing, Microsoft have recently rolled out IMAP support for hotmail, live and outlook.com addresses. You may want to consider converting all your clients to that protocol (then they will synchronise correctly).
But if you do post here first, there is some preparation for he change required.
I'm glad to hear that, I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Anything to make it work.
What sort of preps are required for the change?
A backup of the existing emails must be made before switching the account to IMAP.
Here's a link to an article (and settings) for it.
If you use an iPhone etc it is already using a synchronous protocol (ActiveSync), this procedure will add your Macs to that loop.
That's very helpful. I'm really very grateful.
I'll let you know how it goes. Bless you...
