Q: Help on backing up issue

I connected my iphone to my computer for a backup, however it disconnects in the process of the backup showing that the iphone is disconnected. But in fact my phone was still connected, charging through the computer. Anybody can help solving my issue as i would be unable to restore my backup containing all the contacts and files i have to another device
