If you forget your passcode to your ipad, what can you do to get in?

My daughter's "friend" had her ipad at school and when she got it back her passcode wouldn't work. You also have to double tap on what you are wanting. Example, instead of swiping the lock screen to get to the passcode, you have to double tap on it and also double tap on the numbers for the passcode. Did something happen to the ipad or did her friend change the settings on it and how do I get in it?

Forgotten Screen-Lock Passcode

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup

iOS: How to back up

Then restore via iTunes. The iOS device will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:

iTunes: Restoring iOS software

To restore from backup see:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.

If it was backed up with that on and restore from backup then:

Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)
