Apple does not refurbish iPods for consumers at all. You can get the whole iPod replaced but you cannot get the same one refurbished and given back to you. Should you get it replaced, they will not let you change color.

Apple will offer to replace your iPod for $129. Again, this is a replacement iPod, not your same iPod getting refurbished.
